“The workload has been huge,” says Judith Jones, executive head at Forncett and Carlton Rode Primary Schools. She talks about how staff stress levels have, understandably, been phenomenally high but staff have been utterly amazing. Her advice is to be pragmatic and practical – Oak National Academy is there to help, even if it might not be the way you’d naturally teach or completely suit what you’re doing. She recommends reminding everyone that the original guidance says schools must ‘provide home learning’ and develop that offer but it does not have to be all singing and dancing immediately. “You can only do your best in the circumstances of your school,” she reassures.
